The group recently attended the Rowett-INRA 2014 conference on Gut Microbiology: from Sequence to Function, where Chris presented at both the pre-conference workshop on rumen metatranscriptomics and evolution and in the main meeting on the phylogenetic diversity of the rumen bacterial microbiome. Meanwhile Francesco also did a double act, presenting two posters on his Ph.D. project (lucky they were side-by-side!). One on estimating adaptive diversity in the rumen microbiome (Link to poster here) and the second on MGkit, his framework for analysis of metagenomic/metatranscriptomic data (link to poster). A great meeting, with lots of very interesting talks and good opportunities to sample excellent Scottish whisky!
